The bioadvisory group utilise the broad professional skill set and experience of the core management team. On an "as needs basis" we may utilise additional experienced support staff or draw upon our extensive network of specialist associates, located either within Australia or internationally.

Principal, Managing Director

John has over thirty years experience in technology commercialisation having held  senior management / founder roles for Australian, US and Spanish conglomerates, as well as both public and private start-up firms.

Prior to establishing the bioadvisory group, John was Head of Business Advisory Services with Innovation Dynamics Pty Ltd. John led corporate advisory services in the life science, device and agritech areas, personally performing due diligence, valuations, expert reports, business planning, technology foresighting and market analyses. Clients included diverse SME to large biotech and healthcare service companies, government (state, federal and international) as well as research institutes and universities.
As Site Director, John headed the Australian Operations for a major US global veterinary healthcare firm from 2001 to 2006. Responsibilities included vaccine development and cGMP manufacture, import and export of veterinary vaccines and pharmaceutical products for a site of 100 plus staff. John led significant successful change management activity across technology, regulatory compliance, capital infrastructure and organisational performance. He also facilitated and established a series of highly successful new business initiatives of significant commercial and strategic importance to the organisation. 
In 1990, John was appointed first manager at a biotech start-up, supporting its transformation from a private, to an ASX and NASDAQ listed public company. Here he led the establishment of multi site regulatory compliant fermentation and bioprocess operations (cGMP, GMAC and AQIS) for development, scale-up and manufacture of various life science and clinical trial bioproducts. John conceived, established and led a profitable international cGMP bioprocessing Contract Manufacturing Organisation (CMO) and facilitated the establishment of a successful Life Science business unit.

John was invited by the Australian Federal Government Department of Foreign Affairs, serving for a period of six years, on a national consultative committee for bio-weapons control; has held Australian Referee, State Chair and National Director roles for various industry associations, as well as served on various international, state and federal government grant application Review Panels.

Over the last 6 years, the Australian federal government has retained John to provide commercialisation advice; grant review, due diligence, funding recommendation, and mentoring to hundreds of corporate and public funded start-up entities, across all technology and market sectors. John regularly presents to the start-up ecosystem.

John has a BSc, MSc, MBA and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He has 15 years as a company director and maintains extensive technical, commercial and capital raising networks both nationally and globally. 

Joshua Grew LLB (Hons), BA (Modern Asian Studies -  Japanese)

Joshua has significant commercial and legal experience, having consulted in Trade and Customs Services as well as International Law and Policy with the major international professional services firm, KPMG. Josh has extensive trade and customs experience having worked in both the private and public sector, both in Australia and overseas. He has lived and worked in both Japan and Spain. Joshua is admitted as a legal practitioner in NSW and was formerly an Associate to a senior District Court Judge.

Joshua is an accredited, independent mediator with the Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators Australia.
